Our buttonholes use a combination of machine precision and hand-finishing.
The Process:
- Buttonholes: Machine-stitched for consistency, then hand-finished for clean edges
- Button attachment: Hand-sewn with proper shank for durability
- Working cuffs (surgeon's cuffs): If selected, buttonholes are functional and hand-finished
Why Not 100% Hand-Stitched?
True hand-stitched buttonholes add 2-3 hours per jacket and $200-400 to the cost. The visual difference is minimal - you'd need a loupe to see it.
Our approach delivers:
- Clean, consistent buttonholes
- Hand-finished edges (where it matters)
- Durability that matches full hand-stitching
- Price point of $590-800 instead of $2,000+
For Buttonhole Purists:
If 100% hand-stitched buttonholes are important to you, contact us. We can arrange it as a custom request with adjusted pricing and timeline.
Visual Quality: Our buttonholes are indistinguishable from hand-stitched at normal viewing distance. The functional quality is identical. The difference is craft tradition vs. practical result.
A full suit takes 8-12+ hours of skilled work.

- Chest piece attached
- Lapels structured
Jacket Assembly (3-4 hours)
- Front and back panels joined
- Sleeves set and attached
- Collar constructed
- Lining installed
- Buttonholes made, buttons attached

Why Can't It Be Faster?
Every shortcut affects quality. Fused instead of canvas saves 2 hours but loses drape and longevity. Fast fashion suits take 30-60 minutes and last 1-2 years. Ours take 8-12 hours and last 10-15+ years.
The Real Cost: At $590-800 for 8-12 hours of skilled work, you're paying roughly $50-100/hour for master craftsmanship. That's exceptional value for custom tailoring.
Every garment passes through multiple quality checkpoints before shipping.
Checkpoint 1: Post-Cutting
- Pattern alignment verified
- Fabric grain checked
- No fabric defects (holes, pulls, discoloration)
Checkpoint 2: Mid-Construction
- Canvas properly shaped
- Seams clean and straight
- Interlining smooth (no bubbles)
Checkpoint 3: Pre-Finishing
- Buttonholes clean and functional
- Buttons secure
- Pockets properly aligned
- Lining smooth and attached correctly
Checkpoint 4: Final Inspection
The complete garment is checked against a 25+ point checklist:
Jacket: Shoulders level and correct width, lapels lie flat, buttons aligned, buttonholes clean, sleeves same length, pockets aligned, lining smooth, no loose threads, clean pressing.
Trousers: Waistband sits flat, fly zips smoothly, pockets functional, legs same length, crease lines sharp, hem clean finish.
If Something Fails: The garment goes back for correction before shipping. We don't ship items that don't meet our standards - even if it delays your order slightly.
Your Final Check: When you receive your garment, inspect it within 7 days. If anything is wrong, contact us immediately. Our 30-day fit guarantee covers any issues.
