Custom Tailoring Process

What is draft fitting?

Draft fitting is our signature process - we create a test garment first, send it to you for fitting, then make the final garment based on your feedback.

This is the same method $3,000+ tailors use, ensuring a perfect fit before cutting your final fabric. Most online tailors skip this step and go straight to final production, risking fit issues.

How does the custom measurement process work?

You have two options:

Option 1 - Custom Measurements (Included):
Submit your measurements using our detailed guide. Our master tailor reviews them and creates your draft garment.

Option 2 - Ultimate Precision ($49 one-time):
Ship us an existing garment that fits you perfectly. Our master tailor measures it professionally and creates your pattern. Your garment is returned with your order. This is recommended for the most accurate fit.

How long does the tailoring process take?

Option 1 - Custom Measurements (Faster):
- Production starts within 24 hours after confirming your measurements
- Draft garment ready in 4-6 days
- Shipping: 2-3 weeks to receive draft
- Try on, provide feedback
- Final garment crafted and shipped
- Total: 3-6 weeks from order to delivery

Option 2 - Ultimate Precision (Longer, but most accurate):
- You ship your garment to us first
- We receive and analyze it (depends on your shipping speed)
- Production starts after analysis
- Draft created and shipped
- Total: 6-8 weeks from order to delivery

Every garment is handcrafted by our master tailor in Bangkok - we prioritize precision over speed.

What if the draft doesn't fit perfectly?

That's exactly why we do the draft fitting! Tell us what needs adjustment (tighter chest, longer sleeves, etc.) and we'll modify the pattern before creating your final garment. Most customers need 1-3 minor adjustments - this is normal and expected.

What happens to my draft garment after I approve the fit?

You can keep the draft garment or return it to us - it's yours. The important part is we've captured your perfect pattern digitally and saved it to your profile forever.

Many customers keep their drafts as casual wear or donate them. The value is in the pattern we've perfected, which is used for all your future orders.

Can I skip the draft fitting to get my suit faster?

No - draft fitting is included in every order and cannot be skipped. Here's why: Even the world's best tailors can't predict exactly how fabric will drape on YOUR unique body from measurements alone.

The draft eliminates $600+ remake risks by catching fit issues in $20 test fabric. It's our insurance policy AND yours. This is why we confidently offer our 30-day fit guarantee - we've already verified your fit before cutting expensive Italian fabric.

How do I evaluate if my draft fits correctly? What should I look for?

We send a detailed fitting guide with your draft showing exactly what to check:
- Shoulders: Seam should end at your natural shoulder edge (not drooping or pulling)
- Chest: Should allow two fingers of room when buttoned
- Sleeves: Should break at your wrist bone, showing 1/4-1/2 inch of shirt cuff
- Length: Jacket should cover your seat, trouser break depends on preference
- Waist: Comfortable when buttoned, no pulling or excess fabric

Plus, you can schedule a FREE virtual fitting consultation where we guide you through the evaluation in real-time via video call. Most first-time customers find this incredibly helpful.

What if the draft needs major changes - will I get another draft?

For major adjustments (significant shoulder repositioning, full pattern rebuild), we'll create a second draft at no extra cost to verify the changes before cutting your final fabric.

This is rare - 95% of customers approve their draft with zero or minor adjustments. But if needed, we'd rather send another $20 test garment than risk your $200+ fabric. Perfect fit is non-negotiable.

How is draft fitting different from buying a suit and getting it altered?

Huge difference. Alterations have physical limits:
- Sleeves: Can only adjust ±1 inch (button placement restricts more)
- Waist: Limited to ±1 inch (seam allowance restricts more)
- Shoulders: CANNOT be altered without $200-400 reconstruction
- Length: Can shorten, but lengthening is often impossible

Draft fitting has ZERO limits - we can rebuild the entire pattern from scratch if needed because we haven't cut your final fabric yet. It's true custom construction, not retrofitting a finished garment.

Do you make suits for big & tall / athletic / short builds?

Yes - every suit is made to YOUR exact measurements, regardless of body type.

That's the entire point of custom tailoring. Unlike off-the-rack suits that force you into standardized sizes, we build your pattern from scratch.

Big & Tall:
- No size limits - we've fitted 56" chests and 44" waists
- Proportions adjusted (longer jacket, wider shoulders, deeper armholes)
- Draft fitting ensures nothing pulls or gaps

Short Men (under 5'7"):
- Shorter jacket length to elongate legs
- Higher button stance for balanced proportions
- Minimal trouser break for cleaner silhouette
- No "swimming in fabric" like off-the-rack small sizes

Athletic Build (wide shoulders, narrow waist):
- We handle any "drop" (chest-to-waist difference)
- Off-the-rack assumes 6" drop; athletes often have 8-10"+
- Tapered waist without chest tightness
- Sleeves that fit biceps without being baggy at wrists

Asymmetric Bodies:
- Different arm lengths? We measure both
- Uneven shoulders? Pattern adjusted accordingly
- Most people have slight asymmetry - custom accommodates it

Why Off-the-Rack Fails Non-Standard Bodies:
- Big & tall sections = same proportions, just scaled up (still wrong fit)
- Athletic fit = marketing term, not actual pattern change
- Alterations have limits (shoulders CAN'T be fixed)

Our Process:
1. Submit your actual measurements (not a size label)
2. Draft fitting catches any issues before final fabric
3. Pattern saved for perfect reorders

Bottom line: If you've struggled to find suits that fit, custom isn't a luxury - it's the only real solution.

I'm short (5'4"-5'7") - can you adjust proportions to make me look taller?

Absolutely. Custom tailoring is the best solution for shorter men because we can adjust every proportion to create a taller, leaner silhouette.

What We Adjust:

  • Jacket Length: Slightly shorter than standard - ends at your thumb knuckle, not mid-palm. This elongates your legs visually.
  • Button Stance: Higher placement draws the eye upward and creates vertical lines.
  • Lapel Width: Narrower lapels in proportion to your frame - not the wide lapels designed for 6'2" models.
  • Shoulder Width: Precise fit without overhang - droopy shoulders make you look smaller.
  • Trouser Break: Minimal to no break - fabric pooling at your ankles visually shortens your legs.

Why Off-the-Rack Fails Short Men:

"Short" sizes are just scaled-down regular patterns. The proportions stay wrong - armholes too low, button stance too low, lapels too wide for your frame.

Custom Advantage: We build your pattern from YOUR measurements - not a scaled-down average. The draft fitting verifies everything before final production.

Style Tips: Solid colors or subtle vertical patterns, matching suit (not separates), higher-rise trousers, and avoid contrast at the waist.

I have an athletic build - wide shoulders, narrow waist. Can you handle the "drop"?

Yes - athletic builds are actually ideal for custom tailoring because off-the-rack completely fails you.

What is "Drop"?

Drop = the difference between your chest and waist measurements.
- Standard off-the-rack: Assumes 6" drop (42" chest = 36" waist)
- Athletic builds: Often 8-12"+ drop (42" chest = 32-34" waist)

If you buy off-the-rack for your chest, the waist billows. If you buy for your waist, the chest is too tight.

How We Solve This:

  • Chest: Room for your developed pecs and back without pulling
  • Shoulders: Precise fit at your actual shoulder width - no padding needed
  • Waist: Suppressed to YOUR measurement, creating the V-taper you've earned
  • Armholes: Higher and shaped for muscular arms without restriction
  • Sleeves: Tapered properly - fits your biceps without being baggy at wrists

Draft Fitting Catches: Chest tightness when you move, back pulling when you reach, shoulder restriction, sleeve tightness. We adjust based on how you actually move.

Result: A suit that shows off your physique instead of hiding it.

My arms or legs are different lengths - can you accommodate asymmetry?

Yes - and here's a secret: most people have some asymmetry. It's completely normal.

Common Asymmetries:
- One arm 0.5-1" longer than the other
- One shoulder slightly higher or more forward
- One leg slightly longer
- Slight spinal curvature affecting posture

Off-the-rack suits assume perfect symmetry. Custom accommodates reality.

How We Handle It:

During Measurement: We measure BOTH arms and legs separately, note shoulder height differences. Ultimate Precision service captures asymmetry automatically from your existing garment.

During Draft Fitting: Asymmetry becomes visible when you try it on. One sleeve riding up? We see it. One trouser leg breaking differently? We catch it.

What We Adjust: Different sleeve lengths (left vs right), different trouser leg lengths, shoulder padding differences, collar angle adjustments.

The Result: Your final suit hangs evenly and looks balanced - because it's built for YOUR body.

Tip: Tell us about any known asymmetry when you order. But even if you don't know, the draft fitting reveals everything.

Do shirts get draft fitting like suits?

Yes — every shirt includes draft fitting. Same process as suits.

How It Works:
1. You submit measurements (DIY or Ultimate Precision)
2. We make a test shirt in fitting fabric
3. It ships to you — try it on at home
4. You send feedback (collar feel, sleeve length, body fit)
5. We adjust the pattern
6. We cut your Italian cotton with a verified fit

Why It Matters for Shirts:

Shirts sit directly against your skin. Every fit issue is felt constantly:
- Collar gaps when you move? Annoying all day.
- Sleeves too long? Bunching at your wrists.
- Body too billowy? Looks sloppy tucked in.

A suit jacket hides minor fit issues. A shirt has nowhere to hide.

Pattern Storage:

After your first shirt, we save your pattern. Reorder any fabric, any pattern — same verified fit, faster delivery.

How do I know if a shirt collar will fit properly?

Collar fit is the #1 shirt fit problem — and the most visible. Here's how we get it right.

Common Collar Problems:

Collar Gap: Collar stands away from neck when you move
- Cause: Neck measurement too large, or collar style wrong for your neck slope
- Draft fitting catches this: You'll see the gap immediately when you try on

Too Tight: Uncomfortable, pulls at button, can't breathe
- Cause: Neck measurement too small, no ease allowance
- Draft fitting catches this: You'll feel the tightness instantly

Wrong Height: Collar too tall (hits jaw) or too short (disappears under jacket)
- Cause: Standard collar heights don't fit all necks
- Draft fitting catches this: You'll see proportion issues in photos

What We Measure:

Standard online tailors measure neck circumference only. That's not enough.

We also consider:
- Neck slope (how your neck angles from shoulder)
- Collar bone position
- How you naturally hold your head

The draft fitting reveals all of this in action — not just static measurements.

The Draft Fitting Check:

When your test shirt arrives:
1. Button the collar fully
2. Slide one finger between collar and neck — should fit snugly, not loose
3. Turn your head left and right — collar shouldn't gap or choke
4. Look in mirror — collar should sit flat against neck

Send us photos. We adjust the pattern if anything's off.

Result: Final shirt collar fits YOUR neck, not an average neck.
